Thank you for checking out my art! I've always been an artist. For the past 27 years, as a full-time photojournalist at The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, my primary medium has been photography. However, I painted several decades ago before life's demands took over. My rediscovered passion for painting in Spring of 2023 is thanks to my two daughters' encouragement and a freshly painted white basement wall that needed some art. "You have all that old painting stuff," they suggested, "why don't you paint something?" I'm so glad I followed their advice.
Painting is my escape from daily deadlines, technology glitches, screens, and all the interruptions that stifle creativity. Canvases never crash! You don't have to stop, reboot, or update a palette knife. I prefer abstract acrylic painting; I feel the paint is in control. I'm simply the facilitator, releasing it from its tube onto the canvas, where it does what it will anyway—so why fight it? I believe this mutual understanding between the paint and me allows us to work well together. The result? Some pretty amazing art that's a blast to create.
